I was part of the "Big fly out". So many fisherman and their families lost their businesses and homes in Walker, Louisiana, that it affected the town. A poor economy got even worse as local businesses that were normally supported by the fisherman, closed up. The animal shelter there became way too overcrowded with people abandoning their pets that they could no longer afford to care for. The shelter was putting 900 dogs a month to sleep. The shelter contacted rescues all over the southeastern US and arranged to have as many pups as possible flown to safety. Today was "rescue" day. I was one of the lucky 167 that made it out of there. There were lots of planes for all of us. Art and his wife, from Pilots and Paws, flew their small plane from Lantana, FL to LA to pick me and 7 others up and fly us back here to A Second Chance Puppies and Kitten Rescue. Won't you adopt me and give me a "Forever home"????
