Description:Hi, my name is Tiny Dancer. You can see that I love to cuddle, people, stuffed animals, I am a love bug. My story: I was rescued from a Miami shelter by A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and placed in a foster home. Sadly there was a virus that came with me and caused the conjunctiva in my eye to swell so bad it completely covered my eye. My foster family was very worried and took me to the vet to be checked out. Since my eye couldn't be seen at all, no one was sure what it was but they gave us medication to reduce the swelling. I hated it! I would only sit still for it if my foster sister held me. Unfortunately, the medicine didn't work. Then I had to go back to the vet and they said I'd most likely have to lose my eye. Noooo! But lucky for me we didn't give up and neither did A Second Chance Rescue. They told my foster family there was an eye specialist they could take me to and maybe, just maybe, he could fix it. Hooray, let's try it! So we did. The eye specialist checked me out but the swelling by now had sealed shut and there was nothing to see. No one was even sure if I *had* an eye under there anymore. A decision was reached to cut open the swollen conjunctiva to see if there even was an eye to save. And there was! But it was very cloudy and I was blind in that eye. Still, never give up is the motto of the day, so this time we got different medications. I still hated them, but my foster sister held me every time they had to be put in my eye. These medications immediately had a noticeable effect. The swelling in my eye was greatly reduced very quickly and I was starting to be able to see again! My foster family swore that they could see color through the cloudiness and things were looking up. But we weren't done yet.
A week later we had to got back to the eye specialist to see how I was doing. They said there was a lot of improvement and they could tell I'd gotten some of my sight back. However the nature of the virus is such that I'll never be back to normal no matter what anyone does. My foster family was advised to continue with the medications for 10 more days and then to wait 6 weeks while administering no medication and then come back for a check up. Whether or not I could keep my eye would be decided then.
April 27th arrived. My eye is now so much improved you can barely tell there's anything wrong with it and we are all hopeful I will get to keep it. Back to the eye specialist's we go. And do you know what happened, dear friends? They said that my eye looked great, I now had most of my sight back and they recommended no further action. I could keep my eye!! There were some tears at the announcement (not mine) and my foster sister hugged me tight. We were all so happy!
I'm very grateful to A Second Chance for never giving up on me and doing so much to help me get better. I'm a very happy kitty now and even though I don't have my full sight and my eye looks a little different from other kitties, I'm loving life and climbing to the top. Plus, now that I'm all better, I'm available for adoption and looking for my furever home. Are you the one?
