Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Black Jack

Hello,
Blackjack is doing well. I took him to the vet due to a spasm issue. Vet advises he has the hiccups. The hiccups are subsiding and hopefully will cease. He runs around like a rocket and loves to play. He has already destroyed two toys. He is mischievous to say the least. He continues to poop in the early morning hours in the back room but some days no poop in the room when I get up. He is still a puppy so far. I went to the goomers and had him bathed and trimmed. Well that's how he is doing and my granddaughter loves him and plays with him when I babysit her during the week. Talk to you again in the future.

Boo
Boo

Hi Kathy, Boo is doing great. She is hysterical she makes us laugh every day. And she is such a diva! It is her way or no way :) But we love her. She sleeps on our bed every night and lays on our lap when we are on the couch. We are still working on potty training but she is doing better with that. She is healthy and growing very quickly. Our dog that we've had for 5 years loves her and they are constantly running around, wrestling, and taking each other's toys. She keeps him distracted so he is not so lonely during the day and is not clinging to us when we get home which is what we were hoping for. They really enjoy each other's company. She is a perfect addition to our family :) It was such a pleasure to adopt a dog with such a big personality who was 100% healthy. You have a great organization. Attached are some pictures of Boo. -Katherine

Bella
Bella

Bella and I are having a great time together and she has turned into my shadow as she won't let me go anywhere without her. She had her checkup with the vet. and he say's she is doing well. She is always drawn to where there are a group of kid's and can't get enough of their attention. Dale and Bella

Bandit
Bandit

Hi there, formally Bandit is now named Max which he seems to like this name and answers to it well. Other than that we found a great Vet (River bridge Animal Hospital). And now he has all his shots and is in great shape. He is a very lovable puppy and loves to snuggle like no other and we love that, he was 14 lbs then and 22 now. Thank all of you for what you do and maybe soon I can help out and give back too. Thank you, Steven & Robert Nanni

Billy

I'm so happy to hear from you! And we are very glad to provide you with an update on our (renamed Billy) Picasso. He is now just past 3 months old and as cute a fellow as you've ever seen. We have elected to keep him as an indoor cat, but we will never have him declawed. We feel that is inhumane and tantamount to amputation. It is a challenge to ensure he remains inside as he is frisky and inquisitive and would love to venture where he has never been yet :) so we provide him with plenty of indoor activity, toys and things to chase around, and try to keep him well-exercised (don't want a fatso cat!) He is very well-adjusted, and a loving addition to our family. We took him to the River Bridge Animal Hospital for his post-adoption follow up visit, and he had a perfect checkup there. Picasso loves water! He loves to jump into my sink and loves a damp washcloth bathing, especially his ears. He never misses an opportunity to come into the shower, and although he does stand back from the falling water, he wants to be on the inside! Picasso is friendly and cuddly and always wants to be wherever we are. We could not have custom-ordered a better kitty, and are very pleased with him.
