Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Lilly

Hi Kathy, It is now one year since LILY graced our home. You have NO idea how much joy she has brought to us. Our grandchildren adore her and play with her for hours. They say she is their doggie. When they are around Lily, her playful personality comes out and she is a riot. She is always right in the middle of the family fun and a very important part. Lily does all the cute things a dog does, ie: sit, paw, roll over and she stands up, puts her paws on my sholders when asked to give mommy ooooh hugs. We have always had dogs, but our LILY tops the charts. This is the kindest and sweetest dog to adopt us. We know all the tiresome work you put into Lily and her puppies. The love and time are quite obvious to us. She is a WINNER! All we can say is thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for all you did to keep our Lily safe and sweet. Bonnie and Lou

Lola
Lola

kathy, Our adoption is going great. Roxy is doing great (aka lola) Her adjustment to the house was amazing. The first day she just laid low kind of just absorbing all of her new surroundings but by day two it was like she had been here forever. She is growing perfectly according to the vet. In the beginning she had hook worms and that was affecting the potty training a little bit, but the vet just gave her some medicine and they are all gone and she treats her crate like her personal appartment. Roxy is about 19lbs now and her favorite thing is the beach. We have her trained to the point where we can take her off the leash and she stays by us, but if she starts to wander off to other people passing by we have a whistle that she responds to and comes running right back to us the second she hears that whistle. All in all everything is going great. Occasionally she pees in the house but its only to let us know she has to go outside, for some reason she won't bark or whine. She'll never go number 2 in the house and when she has to do that she whines but we can't 'understand the pee thing. (any suggestions would be great) At night she sleeps in her crate straight from 11-6, but right at 6 she starts whining cause shes hungry we would like to push it to 7 so everyday we let her stay in a little longer. Any who... everything is going great and she has really brought an extra joy to our lives. Thank you so much for bringing her to our home. I attached some pics but she is a little bigger now than the pictures but she still has the cute wrinkles in her face. Thank you again,

Hi Ruth and Kathy, Cobra is doing awesome. She does her business outside, she can sit, lay down, come and give her paw. The first time on a leash she ate the leash...now she walks right next to me and heels and stops on command. Like a pro! She does have a licking fetish and will daily try to lick my face off. As odd as it sounds she will also sing on command. She sometimes has a bit of a snoring issue when she sleeps, but we have decided to overlook that one minor flaw. She eats like a horse and weighs 25lbs now!!! I've attached a recent pic of my innocent dog caught with my Gatoraide bottle....note her chain stuck on the bottle.
