Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Nutmeg
Nutmeg

Hi! I am sorry that I haven't written sooner. We are so happy with the new additions to our family! Yes we adopted 2 puppies (Poppy and Nutmeg) from the event at Bedners in January. I do have many more recent photos, but I don't seem to find enough time anymore. We are finally getting a routine with potty, play time and mealtime. We wouldn't trade them for the world! Thank you for being the great organization that you are! More pohotos to follow, I promise! Thanks, Tammy Tworek and family.

Niko
Niko

So sorry it has taken so long for me to write this. Niko is doing fantastic! He has been a great addition to our family. We just about have Niko fully potty trained. He is just as lovable as the first day we got him. He still likes to bury his nose into my neck. We have nicknamed him Mr. Licksalot because that's all he wants to do. Niko and my other dog Koda get along wonderfully. Its like they were meant to be brothers. So thank you so much for allowing us to adopt him. The Smith Family

Neptune
Neptune

Sorry for the impersonal email, but I do not have your name and wish to respond to your note. Neptune has adjusted rather well in our home and continues to be a constant supply of good cheer and positive energy when he is not messing up the house. We have tried most of the tricks that we know from the past 5 dogs that we owned but for some reason he is having some difficulties. I guess he is just a slow learner on this. He has formed a lovely relationship with our older dog Lindsey and they play together very nicely. It was a little touch and go at first, but they seem genuinely happy to play together, which is why this has become a little more of a challenge. You must understand that we love the dogs in our home and while no one wants to spend their time cleaning up dog mess, we all feel that if they are getting along so well they should be able to spend their time together rather than segregating the younger Neptune in his cage. Therefore, we try to supervise them closely and make sure that we take Neptune out every 1-1.5 hours and reward him with a treat if he completes his mission. But the dog has a very weak or small bladder and often has an accident. In any event, he has grown quite a bit, is cute and adorable, cheerful and happy, and hopefully the source of many years of enjoyment. Myriam and Michael Engelhardt

Nina
Nina

Hi Kathy, Thank you for the follow up! Nina...who is now formally known as Twix...is doing great! We have visited the vet twice so far for her check up and immunizations. She has been placed on Revelation and has received a clean bill of health. We are still working on house training with her. She is home with someone all day so she is doing very well with it. Twix loves the kids and they adore her and we look forward to watching them grow together. Thank you so much! Danny

Nutmeg

Nutmeg, Now named Shyla is doing excellent. I had a few issues at first because I have a cat but they have kind of gotten used to each other. And she has come to understand she cannot eat the cat. :) Thank you very much for allowing me to adopt her, she is now a life-long family member to myslef, my 4 year old daughter (who by the way lays on her while watching TV, and my fiance. She brightens our day when we come to see her wagging tail when we get home from work. I will send pictures soon.
