Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Peanut

MIMI is doing great. She seems very happy to just be a puppy!

She weighs 4.9 lbs, as of last Saturday, but by the way she eats I bet she is 5 lbs now. My vet says that feeding 2 times a day is fine however, I do hide a few kibbles of her dry food in her bed each day also, so her blood sugar level during the day does not fall too bad.

Mimi has mastered her mommy bed stairs. We got the pet stairs thru Petco and she took to them right away. I put them at the foot of my bed and then I got to the middle of my bed and gave one good "MIMI come see mommy" and up she came. Going down took a little work she would go the the foot of my bed and bark and yelp. So I took a piece of puppy food and put it on each step going down. Wow that worked!

So, now comes the doggie door. I put her outside the door and called her name and she stuck her head in it and that was it. She gets it! I CAN'T TELL YOU JUST HOW SMART SHE IS! She is 3 months old on Friday March 23rd and it just seems there is no stopping her or her smarts.

Thanks for listening....

Proud mom,
Christine

Hi, How are you? Payton is doing great. Thank you Connie

Penelopy
Penelopy

Penelope is doing great!! She is a total little devil, afraid of nothing and loves to play as well as snuggle. She adapted to our home from the first moment she came in and loves to play with our dogs and our other adopted kittie Callie (Quite Patutie). She is an amazing kitten, she is smart and loves to watch tv.

Pebbles
Pebbles

Even though Pebbles is an extremely cute name, we call her Zoey. She is doing very well. I called Barb and left a message on her progress. She went through some separation anxiety leaving her I'm sure, but has bonded to me (Marilyn) just fine. She goes to the dog beach in Jupiter every day. Not wanting to take the plunge in the ocean yet, but we're working on it. Every day just gets better and we love our little Potcake. We'll keep you posted on her progress any time. Best, Marilyn

Pocahontas
Pocahontas

Hi Kathy, I apologize for taking so long to respond to your e-mail. I was out of the country from the 23rd of December until the 4th of January and I'm just now catching up on everything. Your Pocahontas is our "Charlie". She is doing great! The entire family loves her and everyone that sees her wants her. Charlie is 15 weeks now and weighs about 13 lbs. She is very loving and playful, but one tough cookie. At times she's a little skittish and shy, but she is very protective of all of us. Last week we started puppy training classes and she's doing well. She responds to her name, can sit, is still learning the "down" command, and in general is very obedient. We are still trying to have her like the crate. I am using different methods for her to learn that it's a safe place for her to be in. I am pretty sure she will end up liking it soon. We are very happy with our Charlie and so glad we could give her a home where she is loved and cared for. She is a wonderful addition to our family of six - Mom, Dad, Meagan (17), Alexa (13), and the twins, Katharina (3), and Lucas (3). Thank you for the wonderful work you do. It can only be done by kind, loving, and caring individuals like you and everyone at A Second Chance Rescue. I have attached a photo taken three weeks ago. I will send another one soon and keep you updated. Best wishes in the New Year, Lili Jochem
