Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Qutie Patutie

Hi, We changed her name to Callie (no one could spell Quite Patutie right lol). Callie is doing better. When she first came home, she found every possible hiding place in our house and didn't want to socialize. I bought a large "kittie condo" for the living room so she would feel comfortable and she comes and goes from the condo whenever she wants to. She no longer runs away when she sees us coming and we can pet her and hold her for short periods of time. She gets along well with the other animals in house however and seems to feel "protected" by our dogs - go figure. But we do love her and as time goes by, I'm sure she will be more and more comfortable in her surroundings.

I have changed her name to Chelsea is doing fine. She is so wonderful she is crate trained now. We go to the dog parks 3 times a week. She is learning to swim. She is socialized and gets her excercise. She is so easy to train. I also have been back to PetSmart to see you guys so she could say hello. And when I am up there I will bring her by. Thank for such a wonderful dog keep nup the good work.

Quiana
Quiana

Hi Kathy, Quiana is Bessi Mae now, and we are loving her. She gets us out for our walks and keeps us entertained. She is doing great with the potty training and sleeps thru the nite, (since her first nite here). We just have the problem with her puppy nipping, nipping at our feet and grabbing on our clothes. She is very smart. She sits and stays, and comes to us when called. She's progressing walking on her leash. She likes watching the dog whisperer on TV, (haha). We are using a new phrase " leave it", suppose to be used when grabbing something she's not suppose to have. It also works If she starts nipping at my feet, I'll say "leave it" and if she keeps nipping and grabbing, I remove her or remove myself and she gets no attention for a few minutes, this seems to be working. We tried the words "stop" and "no biting" and she would actually get more aggressive, but "leave it" is working best. We think she is a border collie mix, she looks exactly like the pictures of beagle/border collie. She gets lots of exercise and socializing, swims in the pool, goes in the car and has neighborhood doggy friends. She is happy and healthy and getting big. Thanks for our new life with our Bessi girl. (attach.pictures) Right now she is laying at my feet, tired from her walk. Thanks again
