Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Detroit

Greetings Lisa,

Ripley has been a very sweet, very rambunctious boy. He is getting more handsome by the week! He is getting along famously with his older sister, Lyla who looks like a distant relative.

I live in Davie so we are making regular visits to Bark Park and Tree Tops Park. Ripley loves the yard and he is full of spunk just like you remember.

He is deeply loved by his mom and his dad and we will keep you posted as he grows into the stunning man that we know he will be.

All my best,

Anna

Hermes

I just wanted to send you some pictures of Rosie (previously known as Hermes). She was the 2 month old Lab/Rottweiler mix that got adopted in September on the same day as her brother! I remember you telling me that you guys and the foster parents love receiving pictures of how your animals are doing! Attached you will find some pictures of her and she has been doing great!

She is almost fully potty trained now, she even knows how to bark at the back door when she has to go! She loves playing tug with her chew toys and chasing her tennis ball in the backyard! She is very happy, as her tail never stops wagging and we haven't forgotten that her health is just as important! We are keeping up with all puppy shots, medication and making sure she gets plenty of playtime outside as well as cozy naps on the couch. She is even big enough now to hop up on the couch without any help! She's very excited for Halloween because, as you will see in the pictures, she has a super cool costume!

Anyways, I have to get back to her! She just woke up from a puppy nap and is ready to play! Just wanted to let you know how she is doing! Please forward this e-mail to her foster parents as I would love for them to see how well she's doing!

Anais

Hi Lisa,

I want to thank you for our new joy! She is the sweetest, most lovable little animal and is the hit of our community. It took a week for her to settle in and get on a schedule as refers to eating and pooping. For a while I thought she was going to explode with food going in and nothing coming out. She follows Chuck around from room to room. We crate her at night and she sleeps thru. She hasn't barked yet.

She has found lots of dogs to play with and it is really funny to watch her. Today was her first bath here and she fluffed up nicely after being blow dried.

Best to you & A Second Chance.
Laura and Chuck

Blossom

Hi, just dropping you a line to let you know that Blossom (now Asha) is doing great. We adopted her from you at Bedners Farms last March.

We got her a Dog-E-Glow collar. It is an LED lighted collar – she has a matching leash also. It is great for walking her when it is dark out, cars can see you and it feels much safer. These are also good when you let your dog out in the yard when it is dark – you can always see where she is.

She keeps me laughing as she is always so happy and ready for anything!

Julie

Simon

I just wanted to write to say thank you for the event you sponsored at PetSmart on 9/15/2012. We were looking for a new kitten as our cat, Evie, passed a few months back. Simon (now known as Kitty Boy) has brought the family such joy and happiness.

He is a little fluff ball of excitement. He loves his bother Peanut, our Jack Russell. They wrestle and play with each other all the time. Kitty Boy is very attached to Paris, our boxer. He sleeps with her. I think he thinks she is his mamma it is so cute.

Kitty Boy is very loved and spoiled with kisses from everyone in the family. Dr. Fox and his staff have been wonderful, with Kitty Boy's care. They have provided exemplary care for him. I was so impressed that a day after his initial visit they called to follow up see how he was doing. Your organization and Dr. Fox and his staff have a place in our hearts. Thank you for all that you do.

Tina
