Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

She is doing amazing! I renamed her Mila :) she loves being with her 2 sister cats

Vania

Kaylee is doing wonderful. Her personality has come out in full. She's great with everyone and is acting like a puppy again. We are very blessed to have her in our family. Thank you.

Delany

First and foremost, We'd like to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to bring her home! She's absolutely terrific!! She adjusted very quickly to our family & to her big brother Kovu. We renamed her Keyra :) Keyra has received all of her puppy shots (except rabies which she will receive when she turns 4 months) and has started heart-worm prevention. We love love love her! She has learned how to sit & we're still working on laying. Here's a picture:

Ulla

Hei all. Attached, please find a few pictures of Friidu (former Ulla)! She is 3,5 months old now and almost doubled her weight in four and a half weeks! She's not a small baby anymore.... (She weighs 7,5kg now). She already has 'the grown-up fur in the back'! Friidu is flying to Finland with us for summer - we are beginning crate training, the crate should arrive on Friday. She will have plenty of fresh air and lots and lots of woods to run and explore! By the way - any tips how to teach her not to bite or jump against people? We do know how to teach to DO things, it's much more difficult to teach NOT to do something... We really do enjoy having Friidu, she's a pleasure. Thank you! Nina and the boys

Lolita
Lolita

Hi There- Sorry for the delay in responding to your email Luna ( fka Lolita's) new big brother was just diagnosed with diabetes so we have been running back and forth to the vet to get him stabilized and adjusting to a new feeding schedule for everyone. Luna is doing great! She immediately let both boys know she was not to be bullied and established her place in our pack. She was a little shy and sensitive to noise the first couple weeks but got over that really quick. She did not know how to climb stairs at first and needed to be carried every time we went out for walks ( no small feat when you are walking 3 Schipperkes!) On her 2nd or 3rd day she learned how to line up with the boys to have her harness taken off at the bottom of the stairs then run up in order! She's a smart girl! She has been eating VERY well and has put on a few pound and is starting to grow in a nice glossy black coat. ( Her coat was dull, rough and brownish when I picked her up) She just looooooves my downstairs neighbor too- not sure why- she's only seen her a few times briefly, but each time she acts like she is seeing her best pal after a long trip! ( guess who will be dog sitting next time I go out of town? )
