Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Liesum Monnaley

Dear Kathy, We renamed Leisum Monnaley to Chloe at my husband's insistence since he greatly dislikes Liza Minnelli. Chloe had some difficulty adjusting to her new situation as she suffers from separation anxiety. She followed me from room to room for the first week and refused to acknowledge James. With a little time and medication prescribed by Dr. Fox, Chloe is loving life as the center of attention of our three children. She has proved to be a fun, patient, and sweet addition to our family. Chloe is very intelligent and has learned to sit, stay, give five, and lie down on command in just two weeks time. Chloe loves to go for walks and car rides and would prefer to never be apart from the "Ruddle Pack". We love her and feel blessed to have her as part of our family. Thank you for bringing Chloe to our lives. Sincerely, Bobbie, James, and the rest of the Ruddle Pack

Leo
Leo

Saraeya and Taylor renamed "Leo" to "Surfer". He is growing rapidly and gained 4 lbs. He does well sleeping through the night. Once in awhile he has an "accident", but for the most part knows how to tell us he has to go out. He sits and gives us his paw without asking. Quite a fast learner - except for the teething, sharp teeth! He is being trained by using a cage and is confined to the kitchen/family room area otherwise. We all love him a lot. Mary Ann, Saraeya and Taylor Tompkins

Laddin
Laddin

Kathy, Laddin a.k.a. Prince is doing great! We love having a puppy in our home. The kids like to play with him and cuddle with him everyday. Prince loves going outside and visiting with the neighbor dogs too, especially the Yorkie next door :) We have been to see Dr. Fox at Riverbridge and we were quite impressed. We have decided to make Dr. Fox our vet and plan to return in a few weeks for a follow up appointment. Prince is a happy little guy and charms everyone he meets. Thank you for allowing us to adopt him into our family. Sincerely, Kayce Bramble

Lolita
Lolita

Hi There- Sorry for the delay in responding to your email Luna ( fka Lolita's) new big brother was just diagnosed with diabetes so we have been running back and forth to the vet to get him stabilized and adjusting to a new feeding schedule for everyone. Luna is doing great! She immediately let both boys know she was not to be bullied and established her place in our pack. She was a little shy and sensitive to noise the first couple weeks but got over that really quick. She did not know how to climb stairs at first and needed to be carried every time we went out for walks ( no small feat when you are walking 3 Schipperkes!) On her 2nd or 3rd day she learned how to line up with the boys to have her harness taken off at the bottom of the stairs then run up in order! She's a smart girl! She has been eating VERY well and has put on a few pound and is starting to grow in a nice glossy black coat. ( Her coat was dull, rough and brownish when I picked her up) She just looooooves my downstairs neighbor too- not sure why- she's only seen her a few times briefly, but each time she acts like she is seeing her best pal after a long trip! ( guess who will be dog sitting next time I go out of town? )
