Animal Success Stories
As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek! Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes. We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families. If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story! Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Luca
Hello,
Luca now goes by Luna. She is doing very well. She is a good cat. Very affectionate. She is good for everyone in the family. She has some very odd, quirky behaviors though. All in all she seems to be adjusting very well.
She is tough too. She is standing her ground very well with Zzelda.
Legatto
Hi, it’s me Legatto! Except my new name is Thor. I have a new forever family that consist of a Mommy & Daddy, a high schooler, 2 college kids and a 3 year old dog. There’s always somebody home with me and I really like that! I love all of my new family members and I have been really busy getting to know all of them. They all help take care of me and play with me. Delilah (the other dog) was really jealous when I first arrived at my new home, but now we play together everyday. I really like having another dog to play with all the time. I’m growing really fast and I’m a little clumsy right now. I bump my head a lot trying to go under things that I used to fit under, and now I don’t. My Mommy’s friend adopted one of my sisters so we plan to have play dates. I can’t wait to see my sister again!
My mommy says that I’m really smart because I learned to go outside to go potty really fast, I can sit, and offer my paw to shake hands. The only thing I really get in trouble for is biting and chewing things. No bite, no bite, no bite...I hear that everyday. I’m still working on that one! Gotta go find something to chew on!
Love,
Thor
P.S. (From Thor’s Mommy) We’re so thankful for A Second Chance. Thor is a beautiful healthy puppy and we are thoroughly enjoying him and all of his little antics! We’re so grateful to his foster family that took such good care of him until he came home with us. Since he was already used to a home environment he easily adjusted to his new home. His foster mommy had already started the potty training process and it showed. He already knew what to do which made our job a lot easier!! Thank you A Second Chance for doing what you do! May you all be richly blessed for all your good works.
Lusy
Lusy is adjusting to our family unit well; we all love her. She gets along with us, and seems fond of us. She does wonderful in her crate when we are gone, and we have begun dogie obedience training with her. To date, she has completed the first three weeks. She does seem to be making progress, however it is slow. She has learned sit and focus at the training, and I have taught her off and up on our own. Currently, she is learning to loose leash walk.
Lunar
Hope I attached this photo correctly :)
This is one of my favorite taken the day after Whiskey officially became a Shaw. It's her big brother "Roo" (also a 2nd Chance Rescue) and he's 'showing her the ropes'.
She was already 20 lbs, three weeks ago at her first check up, and Lord only knows how much she will weigh in at this weekend! (Her 'big' brother Roo was only 16.2 lbs and at his age we doubt he'll get bigger)
She 'thinks' she has graduated from her crate at night to the big family bed, but sitting up on the edge to whine and go pee in the night is costing everyone else a TAD too much sleep...acceptable when no one has to be at work or school the next day! but she hasn't quite figured the days of the week out yet! We are all working on this !!! :D
She's your typical puppy, she has another big brother Keiko and another big sister Makaya, and two two-legged sisters in the house Dani and Cheyenne. They are all very close, love to be outside exploring the roots of the grass, the tall grass and hiding behind the shed together so mommy has a heart attack when she can't see them! Each of them are sharing his and/or her most interesting habits with Whiskey and she's catching right on!!
Hope this helps, and again, THANK YOU for letting us share in the adoption of more love into our 'Shaw Clan'...''

Linus
Linus is now Sampson. Sorry we renamed our new furry family member :) He is doing great and is spoiled rotten! He is growing like a weed!!! And filling out nicely. We put him on an organic holistic diet. Between his wet and dry foods, enzymes and probiotics, and let's not forget the treats, I think he eats healthier than we do! He's still getting over kennel cough so we wanted to make sure he was on the healthiest diet possible to help him recover from his immune challenges :( He still thinks he's a lap dog! He started obedience school and is the rebel of the pack. We just think he's the brightest and he's just bored in class! Actually he learns very quickly and is learning the commands they are teaching "us". haha! He loves to go for walks and runs after anything you throw. We have a very large field as our backyard. I go walking in the morning with a friend of mine here and when he's tired he just plops down on the grass. That's his way of saying he's done walking with us.
I have to admit, even after all of the research and inquiring I did; I didn't think having a puppy would be this much work. I've cleaned up a gazillion "accidents", gone through two cases of paper towels and two bottles of floor cleaner, and I know I've washed all of my throw rugs at least five times each in less than a month. But the trade off is that Sampson has changed the whole structure of our lives. He gets me outside more often, I'm exercising more, my son is outside running around more, even my husband! My 4 y/o son now has a buddy and he just loves waking up to Sampson licking his face every morning. Malachi (my son) always asks, "Where's Sampson?" when I pick him up from school. He runs into the house to greet him whenever we get home. We have another snuggle buddy when watching a movie. I feel safer at night sleeping just knowing we have such a keen watch dog in the house. Although whenever someone comes over he licks them to death! All of the neighbors and students here at Faith Farm love Sampson and are so thrilled to come up and pet him. The students in the Women's Home here at Faith Farm actually ask to walk him everyday at 5pm...so he now has a waiting list of girlfriends who take turns walking him. The director of the women's group was thrilled that we let him spend tiem with the girls. She says its great therapy for them. And to top all of this off, I must say he is by far the cutest dog in the world!!! I'm sure you can hear my beaming pride through this email of our wonderful dog Sampson. I prayed to God for a special dog for our family and He far exceeded my prayers. We have such an awesome and mighty God!
