Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Lucy
Lucy

Hi - The first two weeks with Lucy were a little rough, but she has settled in quite nicely now and is the spoiled "baby" of the family. She did try to be alpha dog for a while there and was snapping at our other dog and son on occasion, but we understood that she had been spayed and had a puppy taken away shortly before joining our family, so we were all patient with her. It took the dogs a couple weeks to sort out jealousy and territorial issues, but now they are good friends - sharing toys nicely, playing and even napping together. Lucy is now a wonderful addition to our family! She's very snuggly and everybody's favorite nap buddy. She has learned all the house rules very quickly and adapted very well. We think she's wonderful... Warm regards, from the Lynch Family

Libre
Libre

Hello, We have been so blessed to have adopted Libre (now named Buddy). He is the perfect combination of high energy and lazy when he wants to be :) We have had to constantly give him something to chew, because he has destroyed all the toys we gave him the first day! He had some accidents in the house, but thankfully we have all tile floors. We are having some trouble with crate training. One of the gentlemen volunteers had told us which crate to buy, but it ended up being too big and he was able to do his "business" inside of it. We realized a few days later that there was a divider, so that has helped some. He has gotten a little spoiled because we couldn't take the whining so we let him sleep in his bed instead of the crate at night. Our son loves Buddy SOOO much! He is constantly trying to play with him and unfortunatly teasing him too. Buddy is very much loved and we are very happy with our adoption! I have attached some pictures...Buddy has become quite comfortable :) Rodriguez Family

Lisa
Lisa

Well first of all I ended up renaming her because she was not responding to that name. Her new name is Taylor and she is a very happy little puppy. She is wondeful, she has learned to sit and come on command (most of the time). She hasn't had an accident since her first couple days. She has gotten very well adjusted to living in an apartment including navigating stairs. She loves meeting people and other dogs. She is just as happy to be asleep next to you or at your feet as she is to be running around playing fetch. Thank you very much for allowing her and me to bond as we have. She is going to be a happy and healthy member of my life for a long time.

Locomotion
Locomotion

Locomotion was adopted by Deputy Rodney Hudson on 12/9/09. I am his fiance Barbara Hardy. We have re-named Locomotion as Scruffy and he responds well to his name. Scruffy is an addition to our animal family as we have two cats and a dog. Everyone has adapted to Scruffy quite well. Our 10-year-old cat, Jinx, is Scruffy's favorite playmate. Scruffy is doing well with his housebreaking and basic training. He is fairly obedient and very eager to please. We are very, very happy to have Scruffy as part of our family now. I will send a couple more pictures under separate cover once I am at my home computer. Thank you all for the dedication to fostering these animals while they await a home.

Lilo
Lilo

Lilo is now Bella and doing awesome! She is the love of our life and the only dog of 4 the sleeps in our bed nightly. She's about 33 pounds and has now had her double dew claws removed. We will begin dog training ( owner training) classes in November. Bella is planing her first trip to NC in the same month. She is looking forward to her first hiking trip. Debra P
