Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Ree-Cee
Ree-Cee

Hi Kathy :) We're all doing fine... Ree-Cee is growing so fast. When we adopted her she was 7.5 pounds and the obvious runt. Three weeks later she's 20 lbs and has filled out nicely! She and our older dog get along well... he's almost 10 so he's not keen on running around with her but they co-exist fine. When adopted, she had hook worms and coccidia but that's been treated. All healthy on her last checkup this past Saturday. Once we're past the teething and the potty training, we'll be in a more comfortable position. Ree-Cee's just learned to ring the bells at our door to go out so that is a major step. Teething we'll just have to endure until it's done but she's not teething on furniture...just our hands. So things are good :)

Ruby
Ruby

Ruby is doing great. We both have adjusted quickly to each other. She is almost 25 lbs now and growing fast. She loves to play with our neighbors American bulldog. She suprisingly holds her own against the larger dog. She loves going out to Bedner's farm where she socializes with every kid their. Ruby is very smart and responding well to training. She can sit, lay, give her paw and heal. She is very good on lead and getting better with off lead training. She is learning how to speak and smile on command. Cute little trick. We are very happy with her. Can't wait until she replaces those needles in her mouth with her adult teeth.

Raine
Raine

Thank you so much for following up. Zoe (pronounced Zoey, lol... and formerly Raine) is doing GREAT! She has a wonderful temperment, is great with other dogs and especially people. She is already almost 30lbs... and beautiful. Please let me know if there are any issues with the other adoptions, I would gladly take a second! I need to take some new pictures, but I will friend you on facebook and send you her pictures there. Thanks again for a wonderful HAPPY pup! Yours truly, Kevin Rink

Rambo
Rambo

Rambo is great! He eats.....a lot! Drinks......a lot! Poops a ton!!! Oh yea he sleeps to! He loves and protects his deaf sister, when she is sleeping he lays right in front of her cage when the door is open so you can not reach in and scare her. He is Rambo in every sense of the word. He jumps off the back of the couch and slides across the floor! Pictures to follow shortly. John Petrucco

Robin

hi kathy, robin is doing well. her name is now currie. she has lots of friends, plus everyone in my big family adores her. she is discovering more and more of the world each day. last night she was amazed by sprinklers. it's really fun to watch her explore and learn. and sometimes she gets so excited she barks at new things, like my roommate's caged parrot who incidentally pays her zero attention. her bark is tiny like her. she is thirteen weeks and two days old, and still very much a puppy. she loves to chew on just about everything, especially my hands. she hasn't had the oportunity to damage anything, perhaps because she is so small and would require more time than can steal away from supervision. she loves to chew on my hands. please let me know if there's a toy that would provide the same texture and enjoyment for her! she has a healthy diet. she eats blue buffalo, i think it's called, and seems to like it a lot. i'm still looking for treats small enough for her. i'm working hard to set her up to succeed at potty training. she's responding well to the routine i'm trying to teach her. but boy this is hard work! she has a crate but i allow her to sleep with me at night. we both like that a lot. :) i've tried sending pictures with this email but your mailbox is too full. email me back for pictures if you want. about the adoption process, i think it went very smoothly. and every person i came into contact with seemed very caring about the animals and their welfare. i'm thankful for the opportunity to give currie a second chance because there's nothing more rewarding than earning her love.
