Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Visa
Visa

Luna (aka Visa) is doing great. She seems to like her new home as well as the neighbors and especially the park and all the new dog friends she's met there. They are all much older and bigger then her, but she gives them a good workout. She plays well with all the other dogs, but some of the older ones find her annoying. She's adapted well. She's 16 lbs now, much longer and taller. Will send pictures soon. Take care.

Vegas
Vegas

Hello Kathy, I can't begin to tell you how happy we are to have Vegas in our life. We actually changed her name to Dolce after we adopted her. In the weeks we have had her with us we have been very active with her. First of all she gets along really well with her big sister, Mocha. They play all the time. It's so much fun to watch them run around together in the yard. We have also been training Dolce and she already knows 8 commands: sit, stay, down, shake, high 5, leave it, kiss, and go to bed. She's very smart and is picking up the commands quickly. Although we are still not done with the house training part. She has also been very healthy. She got her last set of shots two weeks ago, so we have been taking her for walks around the block every day. We have also taken her to the dog park and she's a social butterfly. We even took her and Mocha to Bark at the Park to see the Marlin's game last week. It was so much fun and she behaved very well. Also, she just started to swim in the pool and she seems to like it as much as Mocha. Overall, she's a great dog. She's becoming sweeter with us by the day and we think she's starting to feel part of the pack. We spend a lot of time with her and we couldn't be happier to have this little angel in our lives. We are very grateful to everyone at Second Chance Rescue for helping us find the perfect addition to our pack. Please see the pictures attached. I tried to put as many as I could that I felt were pretty reflective of the last month with Dolce. Thanks again for doing what you do. Keep up the good work!! Laura & Jose

Vashti
Vashti

Dear Kathy, Vashti and I are getting along well. She is very sweet and loving. She is both friendly to humans and dogs. Feeding for the first two days was difficult, she refused everything. However since that time she is eating her food and has already gained two pounds. She loves her walks and our community dog park. I think she is housebroken, but does not yet let me know that she wants to go out. Does that mean I am well trained??? I have signed up for classes, she does understand sit, stay and leave it. We are working on down and not pulling on the leash. I think we are both happy with each other. I will try to send a picture. Ethel Joffe

Vala
Vala

Hello, Vala is doing great. She has been growing fast and has quickly become part of our family. She is up to date on shots and healthy as can be. Thank you again for giving us this opportunity! I have attached a picture of Vala. Thank you again, Ryan

Vahbiz
Vahbiz

Vahbiz/Casey is doing great and has adjusted very well. We also have a 10 month old black lab mix and we were worried about how they would get along but Casey is one tough puppy. They play tug-of-war with toys and sometimes I will find them together in the bigger crate sleeping. They share even the small dog beds or they will insist on playing or sleeping under my desk (picture attached). She is chewing on everything and teaching my kids the benefits of putting things away! Casey is doing her job very well which is making my 12 year old daughter happy. She sleeps in her bed at night; curled up at her feet and follows her everywhere. Casey did have worms but that has been taken care of with a trip to the vet. She is not housebroken yet, but we are still working on that. She is crate trained. The whole adoption process was relatively easy. The hardest part was being patient. The only thing that would make the process better is if some of the paperwork could be filled out before picking up the dogs and if we didn't have to pick up the dogs all at the same time at Petco. It was a bit of a madhouse. What you do is commendable and Susan Werner did a wonderful job taking care of the puppies. She was quick to respond to e-mail and any questions we had. Thanks,
