Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Willow
Willow

Hi Kathy, It's been about a month since I adopted Willow, now named Kora. She is one of the sweetest, most loving and loyal dogs I have ever met. She needs some training and has some separation issues, but she is the perfect dog. She loves to give kisses and be close, and she loves to play at the dog park. I've attached a recent photo. Thanks again for giving me this gift! Christina

William

Hi...Thank you so much for the e-mail. William is adjusting just wonderful to our family. We have another dog named Buddy who was in need of a friend after his very best friend passed, and William and Buddy are bonding very well. William has been a great addition to our family. He is a good boy.....he is great with my kids, and our other pets. I am attaching a few photos of William (or Billy as we call him). Once again, thank you for all that you do for these animals. Sincerely, Tina Whidden

Winston
Winston

Hi Kathy, My husband and I have renamed him C.J. which stands for Chance Jr. He looks exactly like our Chocolate Lab that we have when he was about 1 year old and his name is Chance. Things are going good with C.J. He has had a few accidents in the house even though we take him out to go potty a lot throughout the day. We took him to Dr. Fox for his check-up and inside C.J.'s bottom eye lid on the right side, it has always been very red and I asked the vet about it and he didn't seem concerned.

Wasabi

Hi Lisa, I wanted to let you know that Wasabi is doing really good. He had his second visit with Dr Fox and he is about 7 pounds! He is so cute and sweet. We love him so much and we think he feels the same about us! He loves to be with us all the time, which sometimes is hard because he cries when we leave him or even when I am in the shower he sits outside the shower door waiting for me and whimpers. He is very sociable with other people and animals. He loves being outside in the sun and lays on his back like he is sunbathing. The neighbors all adore him and cannot get enough of him. We have people offer to watch him if we ever need a babysitter. I am reluctant to leave him with anyone else because I dont think I trust anyone to look out for him the way we do. He has a funny little personality and we feel so lucky to have him. We are putting pictures together and will send them to you very soon. We are still potty training and he is improving but we have a ways to go. He sleeps with us and lets us know in the morning he wants to go out but we still have accidents in the house. He also naps alot which is cute because he looks at us and cries when he is sleepy and wants to be held and then falls right to sleep when we pick him up. We could go on and on about how amazing he is! We will keep you updated! Best regards Kelley & Will

Wish

Hi, Wish is now known as Amaya and she is doing great, we just love her! She has quickly bonded with her beagle sister, Mikkei and making her way into her other sister, Keelah's heart. She is very busy with them. On Saturday she had a puppy check up and the vet said she is a healthy 3.9 pounds. The beginning of April she will be getting her rabies vaccination. We are still working on the potty training and just today she started using the big girl door (doggy door), we are so proud of her. I am also waiting for her needles to fall out and her big girl teeth to come in. We are also working on what the vet refers to as temper tantrums when she doesn't get her way (I understand this is common in Chi's). So far whenever she goes for a car ride she lays on me and falls asleep. She also does really good on keeping up with her sisters during walks. Thank you for allowing us to adopt her. Karen & Walter
