Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Maxy
Maxy

Thank you for asking about her, she is the cutest, funest dog and she fits right in with our family. I cannot tell you how happy she has made my daughter:o) I will foward pictures soon!! Our other dogs play with her all day long and she follows them and has learned pretty much all of the training rules. Potty training has been 50/50 but she is smart and we are sure that she will get it. Good luck placing more pets!!! The DiCuia family

Zada

I apologize that I haven't responded sooner. Zeta is GREAT. She has adjusted very easily and is one very happy girl. We have a routine which we keep that includes a 2 mile speed walk every morning and a run in the park most all evenings... Zeta is full of lots of positive energy ! :) She is so beautifully trim and fit! I will send pictures upon our return from the mtns. in NC... we are leaving Friday for a week or so. Zeta has definitely adopted us and decided she is home sweet home ;)... We have a home office so she is with us all the time. We have recently adopted a little puppy we call Jackie... he is about 8 months old and a Schnauzer mix. Jack and Zeta are best buddies. They play ALL DAY LONG! Both have lots of energy and wear one another out!! Jackie is a male and looks to Zeta as a mommy and she totally watches over him. It really is interesting to see how she teaches him and the patience she has with that little rascal!! Zeta has met alot of dogs in our neighborhood while we are on our daily walks... and I have to say she makes us soooo proud! She is so obedient.. we have an inside joke that when we see a dog out of control, we say to each other "they need to "Get The BOOK"! meaning read Cesar Milan's- "Cesar's Way" by the Dog Whisperer!!! With this beautiful warm weather, we have made our "summer" dip in the pool and Zeta joined us. She LOVES the water. We took our time and taught her how much fun and refreshing it is and that we are there with her. She knows the steps now and on her own will step in and go down to the second step. That's REALLY good! We have always had dogs that swim... and love to swim, so it would fit that Zeta would too. One day while at the beach in Hobe Sound, Zeta (being the hunter she is) chased a two hundred pound hog into the mangroves!!!! She was in heaven... about knocked over a couple with their Jack Russell's who were walking the beach... then the Jack Russells joined Zeta in the mission to get the hog. Jackie watches and observes everything Zeta does... it's really precious. There are no worries with her and her "little brother" they really love being together. Their personalities work great together... she has no food issues either. Our family loves her and she is in love with all of us... She is just awesome. We look forward to this trip to NC and look forward to her having a great time running wild and free in our 22 acre yard.... she loved it up there when we were there after picking her up in SC. Soon she will understand that this is her life :) I'll send some pictures... thank you.. I'll be in touch.. Tricia and Max Crescenzi

Dipstick

Guys, Thanks for the email this morning. Strelk (formerly known as Dipstick) has adjusted great to his new home and family. More videos and photos to follow. Best, Michael

Neon

Hi Shelly, here is the latest picture of Taz (Neon). He is fitting in very well with the family. Still working on the potty training. I really liked Dr Fox and have decided to keep him as Taz's vet. His last visit he weighed in @ 21 lbs. He loves to play with Lulu (our Catahoula). He sleeps with us every night! Hopefully he won't be as big as Lulu (70 lbs) or we might have a bed situation!! If you ever want to come see him just let me know. I will keep sending pictures. Thanks for taking such great care of him when he was little.

Dewey

I just wanted to share with you a little 'success story'! About a year and a half ago, my husband and I adopted Strega (then named Dewey). He is by far the cutest little thing ever! We love him to pieces!!! I am a barn manager at a barn here in Wellington, FL and I take him with me everyday! He loves the people there (and they love him just as much!), he plays with the other dogs and has actually become 'friends' with one of the biggest horses at the barn!! It is by far the cutest thing! They see each other, the horse reaches down and Strega gives him kisses in his nose!! I just wanted to say 'Thank You' for bringing Strega to me!! He has definitely become a part of our family!! Thank you, Cori
