Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Rosko

Sorry it took so long to reply, I am not quite used to this instant stuff. On the other hand Rosko and I are getting quite used to each other, and both of us are adapting very well. Underneath all his bluster and schipperkeness (a word as unique as the breed) is a fellow that just wants to be loved, protected, and, of course, boss of all he surveys. I hope Rolex, the other schipperke, has found a good home, and is making someone as happy as Rosko has made us. Pics will soon be on the way , I have many and editing is not my long suit. Thank y;ou for all you do. Mike and Fran Collins

Huggy Bear
Huggy Bear

Hi huggy bear is doing good. She has adjusted to our other dog. My husband is in love with her lol. She had a few chewing problems when we first got her but it has gotten much better. We are definitely going to keep her and she is a part of our family.

Zaharha
Zaharha

Kathy, Zahara who has been renamed Harri is doing fine. She has a very sweet disposition and unbelievable amount of energy. She has been playing with some of our neighbor’s dogs and has a great time. She is pretty much housetrained but we are still having a problem with her at night. At some point we think it would be best if we got another puppy so she would have a constant companion and be less dependent on us but we think it best to wait till she is fully house trained. Do you have any thoughts on that? Also, I saw on your website that Hariri’s mother is still available, why do you think that is? Regards, Arnie

Balto
Balto

Hi Kathy, Good to hear from you. Balto is now Harry. We love Harry so much and he settled in immediately. Blackie the cat has started to play more with him and they spend every evening chasing each other around the house and yard. We feel blessed to have have Harry in our lives. He brings much laughter and joy to our home. We can't imagine it without him I will forward some pictures from my phone. Any suggestions on stopping the nipping. He likes to nip and gets upset if you tell him no ;-( Sam, Mike, Blackie and Harry

Brady QB

I just wanted you to know that Brady, Who's name has been changed by my 9 year old daughter to Ming-Mau (he doesn't seem to mind), is doing very well. He was quiet on the ride home, but as soon as he met the family, he was talking up a storm! He immediately took to all of us, and after a few days his cold cleared up, and he was let out of seclusion to meet the other cat. They are fast friends now. Of course we all love him, like I knew we would! I wanted to let you know that I appreciate the time you both took to talk to me and meet up with me, so that I could meet him and bring him home, thank you, again! I have attached a few photos of him, since Lauren asked me if I would try to get a few from the side so she could see his fantastic spots! I look forward to many, many happy years with Ming! Always, Deborah Kile
