Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Domino
Domino

Domino is doing well and seems to like his new home. He does have a new name though, we re-named him Boo. No and Domino were too close together and we think he was getting confused. As I write this he is playing with our rat terrier mix Thor, and our 13 year old doberman (Duchess) is referee. She seems to have adopted him as her son as she cleans him, sleeps near him, protects him, etc. and she doesn't want anybody rough housing with him except for her. We did not expect Dutchess to still be around, she is old and has some spinal issues. Shortly after adopting Boo we had our vet come out for a consult to see if Dutchess is suffering, she was lethargic and not able to move around much. We oppted to wait and re-evaluate in a week. To our surprise, the puppy got her moving and gave her some motivation to play. Five weeks later she is moving around pretty well, playing, and almost seems normal. Boo is finally not biting as much and is aware that it hurts. He knows what kisses are. He also knows when to go to his bed (on command), how to open the front door, and is responding to general commands (when he feels like it). His favorite toys are sticks, water bottles, and my wife's shoes. He seems to be partial to a pair of boots which he goes and looks for when our guard is down. The only bad habits Boo has is that he is a DIGGER and he loves to run through puddles and bite the water as it splashes, leaving him full of mud. He has grown some and we already had to upgrade his bed because he did not fit in it. He is about 4 " taller about 6" longer and is filling out well. He is a great addition to the chaos we call home. Thank you for inquiring - we will update you anytime.
