Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Tulip

Hi Kathy, Tulip, who we have renamed Tori (she didn't seem like a Tulip to us and she accepted the new name and answers to it), is WONDERFUL. House-breaking is going well. She has some really good days but sometimes 'forgets' to let us know she needs to go outside. She is blending into the family as only a puppy can.. by 'terrorizing' the other animal members of our home. LOL. Our 14yr old Maine-coon seems to be getting along with her more except for when Tori wants to 'play' then Missy just swats her and walks away. Kodi, our 6yr old tuxedo male cat, is intrigued by Tori and allows her to approach but generally walks/runs away when Tori gets into 'play' mode. The recipient of most of Tori's tireless energy is Reva, our 10yr old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. They take each other's toys and wrestle until they both plop down on the floor for a nap. Tori loves to curl up next to Reva.. it is sooo cute. I've attached some pictures of Tori so you can see how much she has grown. I weigh her every Thursday and she last weighed in at 28.2 lbs. She has such long legs that she reminds me of a new-born giraffe sometimes. She has mastered SIT and we are working on STAY. She hasn't quite gotten HEEL as she always wants to tear off like a bandit when we go outside but we are practicing. What else can I tell you other than we are totally in love with her. She has the sweetest disposition and is very loving. We are so glad that we 'found' her and were able to bring her home with us. Regards, Claudia
