Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Thank you for your follow up email. I had written to Jackie Blackie's (now named Pepper) foster mom on 9/12. I apologize you didn't receive a copy. I will send the email along with this one. As an addendum to our 9/12 email I need to add: Pepper has adopted us as her family, as much as we have her. Our family feels complete with her in our home. She loves to sit in our laps and is always very near to one of us. She absolutely loves car rides and never hesitates to be at the door knowing we are leaving (even if she can't go...and this breaks her heart, and ours). She has a fenced in backyard and has become more curious everyday sniffing the scents and breezes. Occasional accidents have occur ed in the house, but she is not punished. Mostly, they happened because we needed to adjust to a routine with her. Our two cats and her get along very well. Basically, they appear to have lived together all their lives. The ONLY problem we have had with the adoption.... We went to have her groomed at Pet Smart in Jensen Beach and the only problem we have had with the adoption is her Rabies Certificate. When we visited Dr. Fox he had given us a typed paper with the Rabies vaccination information. To provide evidence of her vaccine at Pet Smart, we took in this paper. They denied us the grooming stating that "anyone could have typed this paper", and they needed a Certificate of Vaccination. Dr. Fox had not given us a Rabies tag as we live in St. Lucie County not Palm Beach. His suggestion was for us to find a local vet and then request him to process the necessary paperwork for the vaccine. As of today, I haven't followed up with this yet. I think I am feeling a little perturbed since we followed all the recommendations from the adoption package. we asked him to also give her additional vaccines. I can only hope that this will be validated by her vet here. Perhaps there can be alternatives for the follow up visit with out of county adoptions. Nonetheless....we wouldn't have change Peppers adoption for the world. She is now with her Forever Family and we love her very much. THANK YOU so very much, for the hard work you do to save the lives of our four legged friends!! God's Speed Sandy Perkins and Mark Wilkinson
