Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Hi Kathy, Glad to tell you that "Charlie" (we changed his name. My husband couldn't remember it) is a very happy, cheerful, friendly dog. He loves to play. He will come up to me and bring a toy or piece of cowhide for me to grab. Sometimes when I am pulling on whatever he has, I will try to slyly grab one of his front paws. It's fun to watch his eyes trying to hold onto the toy and then he quickly pulls that paw under him. It's so funny to watch he as he tries to keep one and then the other paw out of my reach. He loves to walk. My husband does that most of the time. I comb his every morning before his walk and he is so good, just waiting for me to finish. Lets me check his ears (they were infected). Yes, we love him and have to find a way to stop his barking when we go out for dinner or to friends. He no longer leaves a load on the rug or floor, so that's good. Oh, I must tell you. I baked goodies for those residents here in the building during the holidays and had 6 muffins cooling on the kitchen table while I delivered some. Lo and behold, when I came back he was enjoying one of the muffins on the floor. So of course I took them off the table and put them up on the counter. Well, later in the day when I had two loaves of banana bread cooling in their tins also on the table... Guess once wasn't enough, I hadn't learned my lesson When I got back from delivering banana bread to others, I found Charlie just FINISHING UP and ENTIRE loaf. Why my husband didn't hear the pan hit the floor, I don't know. But Charlie enjoyed the WHOLE LOAF and never got sick or had diarrhea. He must have a stomach of iron. We have taken pictures but need our daughter's help to get them on the computer. Charlie is so cute. Has those big brown eyes that are expressive. He has also begun to "talk" to us when he wants something, be it food, going out or let's play. If I forget to update you, please email me back. Maybe I'll have some pictures by then.
