Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Peaches
Peaches

Hi Kathy, So far everything is going well. Peaches gets along with our other dog. Also she is sleeping through the night. She had her physical and shots and everything seems to be fine. We bring her to the doctor again in another 10 days for her next set of shots. Take care, Christine

Pickles
Pickles

Hello Kathty Pickles is doing great! At first she was a little shy and she seemed sad to be away from home. Our other dog Shiloh was very hesitant to have pickles living with us. But they get along fine now and Pickles seems very happy. We love playing with her and she loves playing with us as well as Shiloh. We love her very much. Here are a few pictures.

Patunia
Patunia

Hi: Petunia is doing great! She's quite a character---very bossy, yet playful, with the other dog; she insists on being the "alpha" dog but is very affectionate with me. We've renamed her "gracie". I'm attaching a picture in all her relaxed glory! Thanks. Pat

Pumpkin

Hi Kathy, Pumpkin now goes by Tabs. He’s adorable, healthy, playful and loving. The scratching, biting and destruction are more than I have experienced with my previous two kitties, but we are working on behavior, providing teething toys and chews, and doing additional kitty proofing. The “Tabs anecdotes” are mounting. One of my favorites to date: I heard an unfamiliar sound, looked around and found Tabs springing off the dining room table smacking the chandelier. I had to remove that fun toy from him by wrapping it tightly in a plastic bag! I just have to say that Jan Carlson who arranged our adoption is a very kindhearted individual who is to be commended for her efforts to save our fuzzy babies; also thank you to you and all of your wonderful volunteers. After many blurry pics, we finally managed to get this one .

Phelicia

Hi Kathy, Well, Snuggles formerly known as Philecia, is doing great. She has adjusted very well. I don't think she was ever exposed to dogs before so we had a bit of a slow start in the beginning. Now her and the dog play and it's great. She has made herself right at home. She plays, eats (a lot...she's a starvin' marvin) and she loves the screened in back porch. She is finally getting groomed next Wednesday. It was too cold, i didn't have the heart to shave off all of her fur when it was so cold. She is very smart. She has learned her name already and comes when you call her (she runs to you because she thinks there is always food involved). Well, if you couldn't tell we love her and she's a keeper. Thanks for checking in on her. Best Regards, Debbi Chamblin
